There are just three games left of the Premier League season with Liverpool vying for Champions League qualification to end their season on a high. Arne Slot’s side recently fell to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Manchester United, damaging their chances of finishing in a position for the top European competition.
However, with struggling Chelsea up next and games against Aston Villa and Brentford to follow, the Reds could well secure a decent position in the Premier League table. Slot will have one eye on the summer transfer window as he bids to make some changes within the squad.
Despite spending a whopping £446million last year, Liverpool have little to show for their massive expenditure. However, unfortunate injury timelines and tough games in Europe have highlighted certain areas that need bolstering in the coming weeks.

Some departures have already been confirmed; the Reds will be bidding farewell to the likes of Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson this summer. However, there may be more departing stars following out the door at Anfield in the near future.
Here, the ECHO have listed six senior figures who may have already played their final few minutes this campaign.
Mo Salah announced his departure from Anfield in March, bringing down the curtain on a nine-year tenure with the club. The Egyptian became a cult hero among the fans during his time with the Reds, winning two Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy alongside numerous domestic cup crowns.
After scoring over 250 goals for Liverpool, Salah will leave the club with a legacy that will last long after his exit. While the 33-year-old is expected to return before the end of the season, he is currently nursing a minor muscle injury and there is still a chance he could face a setback that will end his career with the Reds prematurely.
Andy Robertson is set to leave Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of this campaign, saying goodbye to a fanbase that adored him for almost a decade. The 32-year-old won nine trophies with the club and was recently subbed off against Manchester United just before the hour mark on Sunday.
While the Scotland international is fit to play, Slot may consider playing defenders that he knows he will be able to choose from next season. This could mean that the left-back has played his last minute at Anfield, securing 377 appearances, 14 goals and 69 assists across his Red career.
The last time Wataru Endo played for Liverpool was back in February, as the Reds secured a 1-0 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. The defensive midfielder was filling in at right-back due to injury and was stretchered off in the second half due to an ankle injury.
At the time, Slot admitted that Endo would be “out for a long, long time” and is now aiming to be back fit for the upcoming World Cup with Japan. With limited game time at Anfield – being used mostly as a fill-in for squad crises – it is likely that the 33-year-old will leave Liverpool this summer.
This would mean that his time at the Reds ended as he put the team before himself, filling in at a new position to secure the win.
Federico Chiesa made a late appearance in the defeat to United and was immediately criticised by Jamie Carragher for a careless error in stoppage time. He has played around 300 minutes for the Reds this season and has been scarcely used by Slot across all competitions.
The Italian has been primarily utilised as a substitute this season and reports suggest that he is keen on a move back to Serie A in the summer. With the next three games crucially important for Champions League qualification, it is unlikely that Slot will introduce Chiesa to the starting XI with Europe on the line.
Harvey Elliot is currently on loan at Aston Villa but has rarely appeared in the Premier League recently due to a permanent buy clause in his contract. Manager Unai Emery has been utilising the attacking midfielder primarily in the Europa League.
Elliott would become a Villa player permanently if he makes 10 Premier League appearances, with the Birmingham outfit contractually obliged to pay £35million for his services. So far, the 23-year-old has made just five league appearances for the Villans and could reportedly been included in a cash-plus-player deal to RB Leipzig for Yan Diomande this summer.
This would mean that Elliott would’ve played his last game for Liverpool in August 2025, when he came on as a substitute in the Community Shield defeat against Crystal Palace.
The left-back most recently played for Liverpool in May 2025, joining in the Premier League celebrations at the end of the 2024/25 season. He joined AS Roma on a season-long loan last summer and has only started 11 matches across all competitions this campaign.
Tsimikas has been reported to be potentially returning to Liverpool this summer to serve as back-up to Milos Kerkez next season. But the Greek defender may choose to head elsewhere to secure regular gametime, meaning he would leave Anfield after a year of not pulling on the famous strip.
