Thailand’s Lisa to perform at World Cup opening ceremony

Thai-born superstar Lisa is set take the stage at the 2026 World Cup opening ceremony in Los Angeles next month alongside other global stars including Katy Perry.

The music label LLOUD, founded by Lalisa “Lisa” Manobal of the K-pop supergroup Blackpink, confirmed her appearance on Saturday.

“Happy to announce that LISA will be part of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony, the largest FIFA World Cup in history!” the company wrote.

According to Fifa president Gianni Infantino, the event in the United States on June 12 will showcase the extraordinary scale of the upcoming tournament. Others in the Los Angeles lineup include Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, Rema and Tyla, with additional performers expected to be announced later.

According to The Korea Times, Lisa will be one of the performers on the soon-to-be-released official World Cup soundtrack alongside Anitta, Rema and the Brazilian music group Tropkillaz.

Lisa’s fans worldwide, known as Lilies, and Blackpink fans, known as Blinks, expressed excitement and pride for the artist across social media.

Thai media outlets noted that the 29-year-old Buri Ram native would be the first Thai national to perform at the premier international football tournament, adding another major global event to her growing solo career.

Lisa joined pop luminaries including Doja Cat and Raye for a tribute to James Bond at the Academy Awards in 2025.

Hosted by Mexico, the United States and Canada from June 11 to July 19, the 2026 World Cup will feature a trilogy of star-studded celebrations.

In Mexico on June 11, the headliners will be Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná and Tyla.

In Canada on June 12, the lineup includes the Colombian megastar J Balvin, Grammy Award-winning Mexican rock band Maná, and the pop singer Alejandro Fernández, the son of legendary ranchera icon Vicente Fernández.
