Australia, 6 more countries express solidarity with Philippines following Mindanao quake

MANILA, Philippines — Australian Foreign Minister Sen. Penny Wong said Canberra was ready to provide humanitarian aid to the Philippines as more countries expressed solidarity with Filipinos following the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Mindanao.

“Our thoughts are with the Australia-Filipino community, the people of the Philippines, and all those affected by the earthquake in Mindanao,” Wong wrote on X.

Australian Ambassador to Manila Marc Innes-Brown turned to X to wish “speedy recovery” to the injured and communities affected by the tremor.

United Arab Emirates President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent a message of condolences to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and “wished speedy recovery to all those injured.”

The Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Manila posted on X that the kingdom wished for the “speedy recovery of the injured and the safe return of the missing to their families.”

The Embassy of Ukraine in Manila said it “highly appreciated the efforts of the local authorities and emergency services in responding to the situation.”

The German Embassy in Manila, on Facebook, said: “As recovery efforts continue, Germany stands in solidarity with the people of the Philippines during this difficult time.”

The Embassy of Denmark said: “We hope for a swift recovery and the rebuilding of the affected communities.”

The Russian Embassy shared” the grief of the Philippine people while the Norwegian Embassy said, “Our thoughts are with everyone affected.”
