When a series of images of two skyscrapers that won a major design competition in China was posted on Facebook, social media users were amazed. Some were even horrified.

This is because the two L-shaped skyscrapers, named Oasis Towers, have a very unusual shape.

Both the 150-meter height and the angular, rock-like facades seem to some to resemble a scene from a disaster movie, because it seems that the towers were bombed.

Their jagged edges give the impression that something is missing, that there is a hole in the middle of the design that doesn’t seem to be there.

The project by the Dutch architecture firm MVRDV won the Nature Inspiring Towers competition in Nanjing, China, and features green towers and various sustainable options.

They are designed in such a unique way to allow for extensive greenery.

The towers, which will be built to be used as a mixed-use residential and commercial complex, will be to provide residents with a place to relax in a densely populated, rapidly developing part of the city located in the Jiangbei New Area. Financial District.

However, obviously not everyone likes its appearance.

Dozens of shocked comments began to appear under the post on the popular Architecture and Design Facebook page. One user wrote: “Horror!”

While another commented, “Looks like it’s falling apart… Terrible.”

The third said: “Wow! It looks like a building the morning after an earthquake – which from afar shattered into pieces. Or the Lego brick house was smashed, and these are the remains. Now, speaking of feng shui, I’m not sure it flourishes that much.”

Others thought he was inspired by the war: “This architect is definitely inspired by the war and photographs of bombed out buildings.”

Another agreed: “Looks like a bomb went off.”

However, there were also fans of skyscrapers.

One person wrote: “Amazing design of this building. Love it.”

Another wrote: “Spec. Full of imagination.”
