Ontario wants tougher cellphone rules in schools

Ontario school boards need to crack down on cellphone use because social media — especially TikTok — is a huge distraction for kids, says Education Minister Stephen Lecce.

“I strongly support actions taken by school boards to reduce the distractions within schools, even from social media or cellphone use,” Lecce said Monday at an unrelated announcement in Brampton where he was asked about a cellphone ban the Toronto District School Board — the country’s largest board — is currently considering.
