IKEA Malaysia have now announced that they are resuming their online shopping and delivery services after being given approval from authorities. But of course, as the Movement Control Order (MCO) is still ongoing, the furniture giants will be commencing their contactless delivery service. They’ve also provided a IKEA Safety Precautions Guideline for their workers to adhere to, to ensure staff and customers safety.
IKEA will be prioritising customers with existing orders prior to April 27 to schedule those deliveries at the earliest available delivery slot following the change in regulations. They also mentioned for these customers, to expect a call from IKEA in the next 72 hours.
However, keep in mind that assembly service is still not permitted due to restrictions place on home furnishing industry during the MCO. They are working on a contactless assembly solution which complies with MCO directives, but no updates on that for now. I mean, that’s pretty essential because the last time I tried to piece together IKEA furniture, I came out with a crooked nightstand.
To ensure the safety precautions are upheld, the new guidelines require all staff to undergo temperature checks at warehouse, and to wear surgical masks and gloves at all times. After arriving at the customer’s premise, all delivery co-workers must sanitise hands, put on gloves and surgical masks before entering the house. Delivery co-workers will then confirm with customers where to place the items, and the products will be brought to the desired room.
For now, all IKEA Malaysia stores are still closed during the MCO, while their restaurants are still available for take-away or delivery orders. Eh, better than no furniture, right?
