New Joe Schott ‘Master Ship Builder’ Sign Replaces Bob Chapek Sign at Disney Castaway Cay

A new “Master Ship Builder” sign has finally been installed at Castaway Cay, the Disney Cruise Line private island, after the sign featuring Bob Chapek’s name was removed in November 2022.

Since Chapek was removed from his position as CEO, there has been no sign in this spot on Pump House 1, located near the island’s pier. This new sign seems to have been installed within the past month. It proclaims Disney Signature Experiences President Joe Schott as the Master Ship Builder. It has the same design as the old sign.

Schott was appointed this January amid other Disney Experiences executive changes. Disney Signature Experiences is a division of Disney Experiences focusing on family travel and leisure experiences outside of the theme parks — most relevantly, Disney Cruise Line. Schott also oversees Disney Vacation Club, Aulani – A Disney Resort & Spa, Adventures by Disney, and Storyliving by Disney.

Schott was previously President and General Manager of Shanghai Disney Resort, during which time the park added a “Zootopia” land, a third hotel, and a Spider-Man attraction. Before Shanghai, Schott led operations at Disneyland Paris and was Executive Managing Director of Walt Disney Attractions Japan at Tokyo Disney Resort.

He reports directly to Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, which encompasses Disney Parks. D’Amaro is also represented on Castaway Cay with the “D’Amaro Dock” sign on Pump House 1, which has been in place for several years. There is also a “Captain Bob Iger, Shrimp Distributors” sign on a nearby fence.
