San Francisco: Microblogging site Twitter is working on a feature that allows multiple users to write a tweet together, which it calls “Collaborations.”

The option has yet to be made publicly available and will only work after a user accepts a collaboration request from another user, TechCrunch reports.

It also seems to hint at a possible plan to provide a way for creators to partner with companies for brand ad deals — something already common on rival social networks like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and others.

Twitter’s “Collaborations” feature was first unearthed from the app’s code by mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi, who in December 2021 shared references that he felt indicated Twitter was working on a way for two people to become co-authors of a single tweet.

In this scenario, both people’s Twitter handles and names would appear at the top of the tweet above its content.

Earlier this year, Paluzzi discovered that a collaboration button had been added to the tweet composer’s screen, and he discovered what the co-authors’ profile photos would look like — one superimposed –; when their tweeted out “Collab” popped up in the Twitter timeline.

Now, Paluzzi has once again found evidence of the feature’s development when he tweeted a screenshot explaining how Twitter collaborations would work.

Twitter explained that users would first ask a person or brand to “co-own” a tweet with them and wait for them to accept the request. When the other user accepts the request, both accounts will be listed as co-authors on the tweet, Twitter explains in this introductory screen.

Paluzzi told TechCrunch that he didn’t find anything in the code that would limit the availability of this feature to only select users, such as creators who use Twitter’s Super Follows, for example.
