ITV The Chase star Anne Hegerty’s career away from show as she makes return
Anne Hegerty has become a household name thanks to her role on The Chase, but away from the hit ITV quiz show, the star has a very different career that fans might not be aware of
The Governess Anne Hegerty is set to trade the quizzing world for panto magic, reprising her enchanting role as The Fairy Rose in Scarborough Spa’s festive staging of Beauty and the Beast.
Scarborough Spa spread the word earlier on with a post on their official social media account, saying: “We are delighted to announce that back by popular demand for Beauty and the Beast will be The Governess, @anne_hegerty!
“Keep your eyes peeled for MORE star names to follow.”

Anne’s no stranger to the spotlight outside The Chase, boasting a variety of panto performances under her belt.
Her past roles include the Wicked Stepmother in Cinderella at Grange Theatre back in 2014, the formidable Empress of China in a production of Aladdin, and even playing Carabosse in Middlesbrough Theatre’s take on Sleeping Beauty.
Discussing how pantomime came into her life, Anne shared that her theatre stint began after she got involved on Twitter, which led to a producer reaching out to her.
“I did panto, I was really fairly terrible the first time, I was technically bad, I used to miss cues, so I stumbled through it and then got offered more and I’ve been doing it ever since,” she confessed to the Swindon Advertiser in 2022.
“I enjoy doing the panto, it’s a chance to act and a chance to sing, a chance to act, a chance to be funny more than one gets in The Chase.
“This year I’m Fairy Flutterby, I’m not strictly a villain, I do turn the Beast into the Beast, but I was only doing it to teach him a lesson.”
