Eggs are an essential part of many diets, especially the keto diet which prioritises a high-protein, low-carb intake. For those who have tried the keto or paleo diets, eggs often become a go-to substitute for bread and other carb-heavy foods, though one can only get so creative with them.

If you’re tired of the usual sprinkle of salt and pepper on boiled eggs, there’s a delicious twist you could try.

The dish, dubbed “lazy devilled eggs” by its creator Caitlin Molyneux, starts with boiling eggs for about eight minutes to achieve a solid white and yolk consistency, as suggested by the TikTok sensation.

On her TikTok page, Caitlin shared that her top choice for dressing up cooked boiled eggs is mayonnaise.

However, before you grab the Heinz or Hellman’s mayonnaise from your fridge, it’s worth noting that this particular recipe requires Kewpie mayonnaise, which originates from Japan, reports the Express.

This variety stands out from regular mayonnaise because it is made exclusively with egg yolks instead of whole eggs and utilises rice or apple cider vinegar, leading to a richer taste and creamier texture.

Kewpie mayonnaise can be found in major stores like Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, or online via Amazon.

For an additional burst of flavour, Caitlin includes fresh chives and paprika to her eggs and claims the result is “so good”.

Tips for enhancing boiled eggs:

If you’re aiming for a medium-hard boil, cook your eggs for five to seven minutes, while an eight to 10-minute boil is ideal for hard-boiled eggs.

Remove the eggs from the boiling water and dunk them into a bowl of very chilly or iced water for a couple of minutes.

While keeping the eggs submerged in water, gently peel off the shells before slicing them in half.

Then place them on a dish, add a dab of Kewpie mayonnaise, snip some fresh chives with scissors over the top, and sprinkle a touch of paprika to round off the dish, then tuck in and savour.

Fans on TikTok who’ve given the recipe a go can’t get enough of the scrumptious flavour mix that’s helping them rediscover the joy of eating hard-boiled eggs.

Someone commented: “I’ve struggled with eating boiled eggs since I was little. The white throws me off. I’ve never ever enjoyed it; it was torture. I did this today and loved it!”.

One enthusiast added: “I stopped getting egg ick once I started dressing up my hard-boiled eggs! Thank you for this.”

And another voiced their appreciation: “Thank you for this! I literally was wondering what to do with all my chives and this was so goooood.”
