Shanda Hill is fighting extreme heat as she continues the run the Breztel Ultra Triathlon in Colmar, France.

A post on the Shanda Ultra Athlete Facebook page says that the temperature is climbing into the mid 30s and “after days of racing with little rest, it has started to catch up.”

So far, Hill has swam 38 kilometres, biked 1,800 kilometres, and has completed 246 kilometres of the running portion. She has spent just over 153 hours on the course so far.

Shanda is currently in third place and has held the lead at points during the race. But now, her goal is just to finish the ultra triathlon.

“She told us that, at this point, she just needs to finish the race, no matter what place she ends up in,” stated a Facebook post.

Hill recently pulled out of the race for a few hours to avoid the heat. The Facebook post added that “it takes absolutely everything out of you” to keep moving while fighting heat stroke.

Hill is also struggling to take fluids and her ankle is extremely swollen. The injury comes from her shoes not properly unclipping while getting off her bike.
