MANILA, Philippines — After a historic World Pool Championship (WPC) 9-ball conquest, Filipino cue artist Carlo Biado is headed to the United States for more pool action.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, Biado, who became the first Filipino to win WPC 9-ball titles, said he will compete at the Florida Open and the US Open.

“No time for celebration. My celebration is with family is my biggest trophy in life,” wrote Biado in the post.

“No more long message. It’s time to rest a bit for the Florida Open and US OPEN.”

The inaugural Florida Open is set from August 5 to 10 at the luxurious Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.

It offers a $200,000 prize fund including $40,000 or more than P2.2 million for the champion.

Meanwhile, the US Open is slated from August 18 to 23 at the Harrah’s Resort, Atlantic City, in New Jersey.

The tournament sports a $500,000 prize fund with the winner bagging $100,000 or P5.7 million.

After the Florida and US Open, Biado is expected to banner Team Asia at the Reyes Cup here in the Philippines.

The second edition of the tournament named after the great Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes is set from October 16 to 19 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
