SINGAPORE – Two people were taken to hospital after an accident involving a tipper truck, a prime mover and three lorries along the TPE on Aug 22.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and police said that they were alerted to the accident, which happened in the direction of SLE, after the Punggol Road exit, at about 9.40am.

A 34-year-old male lorry passenger and a 33-year-old male prime mover driver were conscious when taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, they said.

Four more people were assessed for minor injuries but declined to be taken to the hospital, SCDF added.

The police said that two male lorry drivers, aged 33 and 36, are assisting with ongoing investigations.

At about 9.45am, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) advised the public on X to avoid lanes 2, 3 and 4 of the expressway due to the accident.

In updates at about 10.25am and 12.35pm, it added that there was congestion stretching to the KPE (ECP).

In dashcam footage posted on the Singapore Roads Accident Facebook page, the five vehicles can be seen in a pile-up along the affected lanes. Three ambulances can also be spotted.

Several SCDF officers are seen at the scene, including some attending to an individual lying on the ground.

One of the vehicles has a smashed windscreen, while glass and metal debris can be seen strewn across the road.
