Liverpool return to Premier League action against Manchester United with Arne Slot delivering the latest injury news in a press conference on Friday

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has delivered injury updates on three key players before his side face Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday. The champions will be looking to put three consecutive defeats before the international break firmly in the rear-view mirror against their bitter rivals at Anfield.

Missing key players will not help their chances with injury concerns over Ibrahima Konate, Ryan Gravenberch and Alisson. Speaking at the AXA Training Centre on Friday morning, he said: “Ryan is completely fit, still has to train but fit, we are in a good place with the Dutch side.

“Ibou has come to back to us and is expected to train today. Alisson is not training so he is out. How long out? Difficult to say as the end phase of rehab always gives you positives and negatives but not the weekend or next week.”

Konate was forced off early into the second half of the defeat against Chelsea and though he was called up to the France squad, a statement was released last weekend confirming his return to Liverpool having not overcome that muscular problem.

There had also been concerns over Gravenberch following his half-time withdrawal for the Netherlands with two updates on his condition following that decision.

“Ryan indicated he had some minor hamstring problems,” national team boss Ronald Koeman admitted. “Of course, we didn’t take any risks with that.”

After the game, Gravenberch said: “It was partly fitness related. The season is long, so it was a precaution. I’m feeling good and I have the coach’s confidence.”

Alisson had already been all but ruled out of the visit from United after picking up a hamstring injury in the Champions League defeat to Galatasaray. Just seven days before that, Giovanni Leoni suffered a serious knee injury on his debut against Southampton in the Carabao Cup.

The summer signing has since undergone surgery and is expected to be out for a significant period. Wataru Endo was omitted from Japan’s squad over the two-week domestic pause, but is expected to be available.
