Here's what Southeast Asia talked about on Twitter in 2021: SB19, GOT7's BamBam, Shang-Chi, BLACKPINK's LISA and more
Twitter has always been a great place for conversations, memes, and excited reactions about your favourite artists, and last year was no different. From the latest TV series to the region’s most popular musicians, the social platform was buzzing with chatter all throughout 2021.
In Southeast Asia, there were over 25.5 million tweets about tv and film from streaming platforms, while over 118.6 million tweets about local shows. The latter include conversations about Malaysia’s Rindu Awak Separuh Nyawa, Indonesia’s Ikatan Cinta, and the Philippines’ He’s Into Her.
Across Southeast Asia, Marvel fans also raved about the release of the first Asian-led superhero film Shang-Chi and the highly anticipated Spiderman trilogy.

There were also millions of tweets about music and artists from over the world accumulating to over 92.8 million tweets. There were an array of conversation surrounding regional acts including P-pop royalty SB19 who generated over 11.8 million tweets in the Philippines, and K-pop acts BamBam from GOT7 and LISA from BLACKPINK, both of whom made a large portion of the 131 million tweets about Thai artists.
