Liverpool continue their preparations for the 2025/26 campaign with a friendly against Japanese outfit Yokohama F. Marinos – the last leg of their tour of Asia, with Hugo Ekitike potentially in line for a debut.

The 23-year-old completed his initial £69m – potentially rising to £79m – transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt last week but met up with his new Reds teammates in Hong Kong too soon before kick-off in the last friendly, a 4-2 defeat to AC Milan. Ekitike has now got training time under his belt and could be handed his first minutes by Arne Slot.

Also eager to be involved will be Alexis Mac Allister, who has now worked his way back to fitness after an injury at the back end of last season.

But set to miss out are three stars. Both Alisson Becker and Joe Gomez have returned home during the tour, the former over a personal matter and the latter because of an injury precaution, then Luis Diaz has also exited the camp to finalise a £65m transfer to Bayern Munich.

The latest friendly – the third-last in the schedule before the new season gets underway with the Community Shield on August 10th – should also be another opportunity for new signings Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Giorgi Mamardashvili to get used to Slot’s system.

Here, the ECHO provides all the details required to watch along.
