Tamil cinema superstar Vijay’s Jana Nayagan audio launch in Malaysia turned into a spectacle of emotion, nostalgia and fan frenzy, with several moments from the night quickly going viral on social media. Held at the packed Bukit Jalil Stadium, the event saw thousands of fans gathering to celebrate the actor’s last film.
Vijay’s mother performs at the event
One of the evening’s most emotional highlights came when Vijay’s mother, Shobha Chandrasekar, surprised the audience with a live performance, leaving the actor visibly moved. Fans chant ‘TVK’, Vijay signals them to stop
Fans began chanting “TVK”, referencing Vijay’s political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. However, the actor was seen gently shaking his head and gesturing for restraint, signalling that the audio launch was meant to remain focused on cinema rather than politics. The moment was widely shared online, with many interpreting it as Vijay’s attempt to keep the event apolitical and respectful of the occasion.
Atlee hugs Vijay
Another moment that struck a chord with fans was director Atlee’s surprise appearance, with the filmmaker warmly hugging Vijay on stage. Atlee also shared, “In life, we meet three kinds of people. Some are like leaves. They come and go once their purpose is over. Some are like branches. They may stay for a while, but fall away during a storm. But the people who stand by you are like roots, Vijay na. They will never leave you.”
The reunion, symbolic of one of Vijay’s most successful creative collaborations, drew loud cheers from the crowd and added to the celebratory mood of the event.

Vijay shares why he’s stepping away from cinema
During the event, Vijay also explained why he is stepping away from the film industry. He said, “For me, one thing matters. People come and stand in theatres for me. For that reason, I’m ready to stand for them for the next 30–33 years. For these Vijay fans, I’m stepping away from cinema.”
He added, “I’ve faced every kind of criticism right from day one, the same old story. But my fans have stood by me from the very beginning, supporting me relentlessly for 33 years. That’s why, for the fans who stood for me, I will stand for them. This Vijay will repay his debt of gratitude.”
