MANILA, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday announced the extension of the filing of income tax returns (ITR) to May 15, 2026.

“We have extended the filing deadline of the 2025 Annual Income Tax Returns from April 15 to May 15, 2026. Each taxpayer has more time to file properly, with all the necessary documents, and no penalties will be imposed,” Marcos said in Filipino in a social media post.

Taxpayers may file and pay their taxes through offices of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, BIR electronic platforms, and through Authorized Agent Banks.

The chief executive said he issued the directive to give Filipinos more breathing room “especially at a time when the price of oil is rising”.

“We are continuously working to ease the burden in the daily lives of our countrymen,” he said.
