Steven Gerrard drops next manager bombshell as Rangers hero hints at imminent dugout return
The 44-year-old has been strongly linked with Burnley in recent weeks and is adored by his former club
Former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has strongly hinted a quick-fire decision is looming over a return to the dugout.
The 44-year-old has been linked with Burnley in recent weeks and previously held discussions with Andrew Cavenagh and the Ibrox board before Danny Rohl was appointed on a two-and-a-half-year deal in October.
He revealed he was “very close” to sealing a stunning return to Rangers but talks fell through at the final stage.
Gerrard’s name has remained linked with the club he spent three-and-a-half years with and that is set to continue with Rohl feeling the heat after Rangers’ stunning collapse in their pursuit of only a second Premiership crown in the past 15 seasons.
The Liverpool icon appears primed to resume his coaching career imminently; his last job was with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq.
And now Gerrard has added fuel to the fire as he couldn’t guarantee Liverpool-mad fans he would be in attendance for a glamour friendly against a Manchester United select when the pair meet on Saturday, October 3.
Speaking at the press conference on the All Star Legends clash in Malaysia: “It’s a fantastic event in a couple of months’ time. I’m hoping to be available to come over to be a part of it. I should have a decision in two, three weeks”
