Actor Mouni Roy has reacted to rumours surrounding her marriage to husband Suraj Nambiar, urging media outlets and social media users to respect their privacy.

Amid growing speculation about trouble in their relationship, Mouni shared a note on her Instagram Stories requesting people not to spread “false narratives.”

“Humbly requesting all the media houses to not publish false narratives and give us space and privacy. Please,” she wrote.

The rumours gathered pace on Tuesday after social media users claimed that Mouni and Suraj had unfollowed each other on Instagram. By evening, the speculation grew after some users pointed out that Suraj’s Instagram account appeared to have been deleted.

Adding to the discussion online, fans also noticed that no pictures of Suraj, including the couple’s wedding photographs, were visible on Mouni’s Instagram profile.

While Mouni has now responded with a request for privacy, Suraj has not reacted publicly to the rumours.

Mouni and Suraj’s relationship

Mouni Roy married Suraj Nambiar on January 27, 2022, in Goa. The couple had pre-wedding celebrations, including haldi and sangeet ceremonies. They then held a traditional Malayali wedding and a Bengali wedding ceremony, followed by a post-wedding pool party. Suraj, who is from Bengaluru, is a businessman and investment banker. He reportedly lived in Dubai before marrying Mouni.

Over the years, the couple frequently shared glimpses of their relationship on Instagram, posting pictures from holidays, date nights and celebrations.

Mouni is known for television shows such as Kasturi, Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev and Naagin and has also appeared in reality shows including Nach Baliye 6, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7 and Zara Nachke Dikha. Most recently, she hosted Temptation Island India and has also acted in films such as Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, Gold and Made in China.
